Telluride fall
A late stormy evening at Woods Lake near Telluride, CO.
Fall reflections
Woods Lake, Telluride, CO. Fall foliage at its' peak. If only we could be so lucky every year. Great reflections on a stormy evening.
Multnomah Falls
I couldn't resist the classic view of this amazing waterfall location in the Columbia River gorge in Oregon. I gave it a bit of the classical landscape painting look. Much of the area was damaged in a recent fire, but thankfully this area was mostly spared.
McKenzie River, Oregon
This beautiful small river continues down from Sahalie Falls in central Oregon. Easily viewed next to the highway, the water has this beautiful bluish color.
Hopi Sunset Bolts
Thunder storm along the North Rim while the sun was shining on the South Rim.
Pima Sunset
View westward from Pima Point, Grand Canyon National Park.
Pima Light show
Another sunset at Pima Point. The entire day had been nothing but rain and wind. Late in the day I noticed a cloud break on the horizon. I waited until the sun hit that space, and wonderful yellow light hit the western end of the Grand Canyon National Park.
Hopi Sunset
A high cloud formation at sunset, seen from Hopi Point, Grand Canyon. An ultra wide angle view creates the out stretched arms of the clouds.
Winter Storm, Mohave Point
A late afternoon winter storm moves into the western end of the canyon. The whole seen was quite gray at the time, so the black and white rendering seems to convey the feeling of the moment.
St Mary Lake, sunset
St Mary Lake in Glacier National Park. Wild Goose island sits just off shore. This late fall shot developed as the setting sun shot a strong beam into the western end of the lake.
Wave, Kauai
A large curing wave at sunset, Secret Beach, Kauai, Hawaii, north shore.
Cascade, Nevache, France
A small cascade on the hike to Lac Chardonnet, outside the small village of Nevache, in the French Alps.
Natural Bridge, Alberta, Canada
This natural bridge in Yoho National Park along the Emerald Lake Road is easily accessible from the road. This day was gloomy and overcast, giving the scene an even flat light that softened all the shadows.
Castle Mountain, Alberta
A late day view of Castle Mountain, near Banff, Alberta in the Bow River Valley of western Canada.
Arches Morning
A dim gray morning in Arches National Park. It rained the night before, leaving a few reflective pools in the flats.
Fiery Furnace enclave
A small enclosed area inside the Fiery Furnace section of Arches National Park. A small natural bridge framed the entrance area into a small dead end enclave that lies behind the viewer.
Dead Horse Point, Utah
A dawn image of Dead Horse Point. A state park outside of Moab, Utah. Taken just before the sun rose, a soft and even pinkish light illuminated the view.
Zabriskie Point Sunrise
A popular spot in Death Valley. The melted ice cream looking hills with early sunrise illumination.
Mesquite Sand Dunes, Death Valley
This huge expanse of beautiful dunes is a highlight of Death Valley National Park. The late day sun in the winter highlights a low lying haze in the distance, rendering the far mountains as a subtle layered texture.
Mesquite Dunes, late afternoon
Another view of this amazing area of sand dunes. The view constantly changes with the angle of the light. Here seen a short time before sunset.
Lone Pine Sunrise
Lone Pine Peak, seen at sunrise from the Alabama Hills outside of Lone Pine, CA.
Roadside Color
An interesting area of vegetation was found just north of Bishop, CA. The predawn even lighting kept the contrast low and the textured background help isolate the colorful vegetation.
Winter Storm, Grand Canyon
A March snowstorm hit the Grand Canyon this spring. The snow only lasted a couple days, but it gives a beautiful contrast to the warm colors of the canyon.
Snow Tree, Powell Point
A spring snow storm left some cottony traces on south rim vegetation. The whiteness called some attention to trees and bushes that otherwise would not especially stand out during warmer times. The contrast against the colors of the canyon sunrise was striking.
