Sunrise Hopi Point, Grand Canyon
an impressionistic trial, but I like how it came out
Sunrise, Grandview Point
Storm at Desert View
This is storm I saw approaching from across the canyon, the one that ultimately zapped my rental car (see next image).
The Last Flash
This is the last shot taken via my lightning trigger just before I grabbed my gear and hauled tail up the hill. Several minutes later my car suffered a near lightning hit, frying the electronics and blowing out a tire. Fortunately it was a rental car.
Sunset, Moran Point, GC
Stylized sunset, Moran Point
Sunrise, Plateau Point, Grand Canyon
Gloria and I hiked into the canyon and spent a couple nights in the Indian Gardens camp. It's about 5 miles down in, and this image is Plateau Point, about 1.5 miles from the camp.
Artsy sunset shot, from Moran Point
Sunset, Lipan Point
Morning sun at Grandview Point
Hunt's Mesa, late day view
We did an overnight tour to this mesa on the south end of Monument Valley. It's a three hour drive from the visitor center, and you have to go with a Navajo guide and tour service. Good thing too, as the road/trail is very rough and hard on a vehicle. But the views were spectacular.
Late day, Hunt's Mesa, MV
Hunt's Mesa, faint sunset
The road in the center is part of the 17 mile track around the main section of the area. That road is open to tourist traffic, and is a veritable traffic jam in the middle of the day. Too bad, as that is the most difficult light of day to get a good shot of the formations.
Hunt's Mesa, yet again
Dead Horse Point State Park, Utah.
A small, but very scenic Utah State park. Nice views and visitor facilities.
Green River Overlook, Canyonlands Ntl Park
I was able to pull some color out of this file, even though our view of it at the time was rather monochromatic
Interesting petroglyph, outside Moab UT.
Faux Falls, outside Moab
This is a man made waterfall into a reservoir for the area. But even so, it's very scenic. Shot made late in the day with sun behind some clouds giving a very even lighting to the scene.
Pine Creek Overlook, Zion Ntl Park
Pine creek overlook
A rainy morning hike that ended at this overlook. A telephoto shot of the Great Arch near the entrance to the park. Some sunlight briefly broke through illuminating the Arch.
Couldn't pass up the classic shot of the Watchman at sunset, just outside the entrance to Zion.
